May 13 through May 22, 2008 are the dates for the 18 Meter National contest to be held at Mifflin County Airport, Reedsville Pa. The two official practice days will be Sunday and Monday. Tows are available at Mifflin prior to that for those interested in additional practice. There will be a limit of 50 participants so that we don’t exceed the comfort level of the facilities. March 17 is the cut off date for preferential entry should applications exceed 50. This is also the date after which the rules allow for a surcharge for "late" entries. The 2008 SSA pilot ranking list will be used to determine priority.
Contestants flying 15 meter ships will have an additional competition. The highest scoring 15 meter contestants will receive daily recognition and prizes, along with trophies and awards at the end of the contest.
Tows are always available. The contest fee is $685 with a $100 deposit required to hold an entry position.
A glider mounted ELT is required.
In the area of social activities we hope to maintain the tradition of Mifflin as a “user friendly” place to fly and to hang out afterwards. The seasoned volunteer corps remains unchanged and eager to make this another happy, first class event.
